Dear Friends,
And another month is coming to the end. We were expecting heavy tropical rains in November and instead got blessed with sunshine and a light ocean breeze. And contrary to what the media may elude to, the floods that affected the north luckily did not dampen the holiday making fun on Samui Island!

During November we celebrated the famous Loy Krathong Festival – probably the most picturesque and beautiful of all Thai celebrations. The festival of floating lights; literally floating in the sky and the waters! Also in order to ensure that we are fully prepared to welcome and surprise our guest again and again, this month Melati put a lot of emphasize on training. And even the management team could not escape it as you will read below.

And proudly, our efforts were rewarded with the Certificate of Excellence from TripAdvisor – the voice of our guest. So in the ups and downs of hospitality and service delivery, this is an up straight from the voice of you, our guest. Thank you!

It is one of the Kingdom's oldest and best - preserved traditions. Multitudes of ornately decorated krathong or traditional banana leaf floats are set adrift in rivers and waterways in a spell-binding ritual for this festival of lights. The origins of Loy Krathong can be traced to
the idea of water spirits and the floating away of all wrongdoings and uncontrollable calamities together with family and friends.

At Melati it was celebrated with sumptuous assortment of traditional Thai dishes and n unforgettable cultural show featuring a long drum parade, traditional Pong Lang dance, Elvis magician(he was Thai), live band, Krathong contest and of course, a Krathong as a gift for all of our guests!

As a pillar of the Thai community, our esteemed President is quite aware of the importance of giving back. With strong ties to numerous associations on the island as well as throughout Thailand, he has devoted time, energy and substantial funding for the welfare of the community and betterment of our environment.

A recent beneficiary was the TAT Relief Fund for the victims of current floods in Thailand, with a very generous donation on behalf of Melati Beach Resort & Spa and Chaweng Regent Beach Resort. This is yet another addition to numerous donations to temples, schools and hospitals, sustainable living and reducing carbon footprint efforts that are a priority for President; even barrels of natural compost are shipped every month to palm gardens in Suratthani to avoid abuse of Samui’s landfills!

Melati Beach Resort & Spa continues to develop, responding to the needs and comments of the Resort guests. Based on this, it was recently announced that Melati Beach Resort & Spa received a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence, which honors top rated lodging businesses, restaurants and attractions, as reviewed by travelers on the world’s largest travel site. To qualify, these businesses must maintain an average rating of four or higher out of a possible five, as reviewed by travelers on TripAdvisor. Additional criteria include volume of reviews and how recently they have been submitted by TripAdvisor travelers.
